Oh, I am glad.

It is a nervous kind of feeling, this.

And thanks, thanks for the chance.

this looks like a photo that could be titled, "holly-go-lightly visits the local watering hole in mozambique"....

finchy's happy expression, the long walking stick are representative of someone who views life as a journey, and one to be taken up with glee. there's even thurber's words as a theme laid out behind her, "all men should strive to learn before they die, what they are running from, and to, and why"---

but the black crow and the devil (finch's darkman?) are here as well, showing there's no doing this without them. the masked man has a certain early hollywood allure. the mystique of the anti-hero, cigarette poised in expressive fingers and staring out with a challenge that says 'so you really think you want to dare this?'--

i am struck by the innocence of mrs. finch--

hope faced, and wearing a 'madeline' straw hat and demure frock with name tag posted as to say that life's a field trip to be taken with big old open grin. all in all, a very appealing picture of someone who doesn't mind the peeling paint...

Karen-

One of the funniest things about Finchy's photograph is, unfortunately, not visible in this smaller version of the piece.

I cut her image out of a pic she sent me of herself in her garden...very sweet, bucolic place, and then I looked more closely at the nametag on her blouse. It reads

"Satan"

So. That's our girl.

And you got the darkman reference. I had all kinds of different representations, but they were perhaps too plainly menacing and lacked the sexy appeal of Finch's symbolic, or not symbolic, character.

Anyway, thanks again. It's too bad her nametag isn't readable....
